Honey quality & traceability

MGH® Certified

Using medical grade manuka honey. The statement on the MelliVet® pack is the starting point; batch-specific documentation is what lets a veterinary buyer assess quality and traceability.

The quality angle

Know what the statement covers.

MelliVet® carries MGH® Certified on its packaging. No MGO or UMF number is stated for this product. The mark should not be read as a numerical potency rating or a guarantee of a clinical outcome.

Identity & composition

The MelliVet® pack states 100% medical grade manuka honey. For procurement, request the specification and supporting analysis for the batch being offered.

Sterility & handling

The product is gamma-irradiated and labelled Sterile. It is released against a set Certificate of Conformity. Sterility assurance level and irradiation dose remain on request. Store below 25°C as labelled.

Batch-level evidence

A quality statement is most useful when it can be checked against a specific lot. Review the certificate issuer, scope, test methods and batch references rather than relying on a badge alone.

Traceability review

Follow the honey, not just the label.

Traceability means being able to connect source records, honey batches, finished product and supply records. These are the links to request and review; they are not a claim that an audited traceability system has been published here.

  1. 01

    Honey source

Request the documented origin and harvest details for the honey. Origin and harvest window are currently on request.

  2. 02

    Honey batch

Ask for the honey lot reference and any analysis or certification that applies to it. Check that each document identifies the batch it covers.

  3. 03

    Finished product

The product is gamma-irradiated and released against a set Certificate of Conformity. Request the Certificate of Conformity and the record linking the honey lot to the finished tube batch for your traceability review.

  4. 04

    Supply & patient record

Match the supplied batch to the order and delivery records. For clinical use, retain the relevant lot reference in the patient record so later queries refer to the same product.

Clear statements

What is confirmed, and what to request.

The label confirms the statements below. The full meaning of MGH®, the certifying organisation and the certification criteria have not yet been published. Request those details before using the mark as a procurement standard.
